This weekend getaway packs a punch of layered spatial experiences within a modest footprint.
The main entertaining space is wrapped in glass with the kitchen acting as the anchor and commanding panoramic views of the bucolic landscape beyond. Equal in size to the indoor living space, a large covered patio wraps the glazed volume, setting up a mix of outdoor experiences, from al fresco dining to fire pits, games in and through the grass. The canopy is supported by thin steel pencil columns and a large stone fireplace.
The silhouette of the horizontal canopy ties back to the main volume clad entirely in standing seam, corten steel panels. As the panels touch the ground, the private master suite is signified, which includes a large bath with open shower and access to the outdoors. There is a Bunkroom flex-space for guests along with a second full bath.
While the structure is something to be admired from within, its strongest visual is from a deep approach, as the horizontal lantern stretches across the prairie, creating a perimeter glow upon the grassy plot.
